Spartan 66 Player Rankings #24

In looking at players on the current roster and players getting ready to enter Michigan State this fall, presents its Spartan 66 Rankings. What is our reason for naming sixty-six Spartans? Michigan State last won a National Championship in 1966. We're now at player #24.

SD Ranking: #24

Charlie Gantt

Position: Tight End

Exp: Senior

Having started all 13 games of his junior season, Charlie Gantt has earned his spot in the Top 25 Spartans. When we look back he may be too low. Over the years Mark Dantonio has shown a love for the tight end, and Gantt is no exception. At 6-foot-5, 250-pounds, Gantt has the size to do the work needed up front while also being able to stretch the field and make a big-time play when needed most.

Strengths: Experience and athletic ability.

Weakness: Very hard to find a weakness in his game.

Overall: Gantt can do it all at more as a tight end. A future NFL player, Gantt is solid in run blocking and can also go down field and make things happen. Very underrated player in the Big Ten Conference and on the national scene.

Why He Made The List: Having watched Brent Celek during his time with Mark Staten and Mark Dantonio in Cincinnati always for me to really look deep at what Charlie Gantt does on the field. On and off the field Gantt has shown the things needed to be considered one of the top players on the Spartans roster. Don't be surprised when he's making plays at the next level.
