Monty Madaris Talks Spartans

After a very solid camp session on Monday, wide receiver Monty Madaris talked with Spartan Digest about his camp experience with the Spartans.

For Monty Madaris the chance to go and show his ability in front of college coaches drives him to play at a high level. Monday, Madaris got another chance at Michigan State and walked away happy with his performance and impressed by the Spartans.

"I've now been to four camps, (Michigan State, Kentucky, Miami Ohio, Akron) all have been fun to go to and I feel I've done well at each of them."

At 6-foot-2, 185-pounds, Madaris impressed the Spartan coaches with his speed.

"I ran a 4.55 in the forty, which was my slowest forty this summer. I feel that I did well in the testing and well in the drills and one-on-ones."

While Monty didn't expect to get much time with any of the Spartan coaches being a member of the class of 2012 he did speak with his main recruiting coach Harlon Barnett.

"I spoke with Coach Barnett. He introduced himself to me. The family I'm living with right now knows a lot of coaches so he knows the people around me."

While Monty claims to have grown up watching Ohio State, Florida and Florida State, he knows the recruiting process could see him looking at several other schools.

"Michigan State was great. I liked everything I saw, it's a lot better than a lot of the other schools I've visited so far."

With goals of studying business in college, Monty knows there is still work to be done the next two seasons at Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller High School. Not only does he have lofty goals for his team but also himself.

"We're working to win the GCL and a State Championship. My goals are to earn 1st Team All-GCL, All-State and become an All-American."

Spartan Digest will continue to follow the recruiting path taken by Monty Madaris the next couple of years.
