Spartan 66 Player Rankings #16

In looking at players on the current roster and players getting ready to enter Michigan State this fall, presents its Spartan 66 Rankings. What is our reason for naming sixty-six Spartans? Michigan State last won a National Championship in 1966. We're now at player #16.

SD Ranking: #16

Colin Neely

Position: Defensive End

Exp: Redshirt Senior

Colin Neely is the type of player who has always had success in Pat Narduzzi's defensive schemes. Not too tall, Neely uses burst and leverage off the edge to gain advantages over taller slower offensive linemen. Last season Neely earned a fulltime starters role and showed great improvement, it's very important that he continues the learning curve and takes his game to another level for the Spartans to really have a chance for a special season.

Strengths: Athletic ability, fits the scheme

Weakness: Can his game go up another notch?

Overall: Having spent the past six years watching Pat Narduzzi defenses makes me excited about the prospects of Colin Neely. He's yet to reach the level many expect him to reach and going into his final season Spartan fans should see the best he has to offer.

Why He Made The List: This spot on the field always has a chance to do well in a Narduzzi run defense and Neely should be ready to have his best season in a Spartan uniform. If not he'll soon learn others will be pushing for their chance to show what they can do. Look for his sack totals, tackles for loss and total tackles to be higher than last season and provide the Spartans a big play when they need it most.
