Spartan 66 Player Rankings #15

In looking at players on the current roster and players getting ready to enter Michigan State this fall, presents its Spartan 66 Rankings. What is our reason for naming sixty-six Spartans? Michigan State last won a National Championship in 1966. We're now at player #15.

SD Ranking: #15

Marcus Hyde

Position: Safety

Exp: Redshirt Senior

Marcus Hyde is one of those players who have gotten plenty of reps but you just don't remember much of what he does. In many ways this is good. While not splashy, Hyde is solid and at times that was needed last season. Entering his final season Hyde will be asked to provide leadership to the defense that had its up's and downs last year. Much is needed from Hyde this fall and the reason he's ranked at the number 15 spot.

Strengths: Solid not flashy.

Weakness: Ability to be an every game starter.

Overall: The pressure will be on Hyde to take his game up a notch this fall and for good reasons. He's got the skill set to play and has shown at times he can be a solid player on the field. He's played in 36 college games now and should be in position to have his biggest and best season to date.

Why He Made The List: The Spartans problems last season in the defensive backfield is the main reason Hyde is at the #15 spot. He must play at a high level or risk a younger player pushing him for time. We feel he'll add to the successful season he enjoyed last season that saw him post 46 tackles and help shore up the spot the Spartans need to have solid play from.
