"We went up to Michigan State and visited with all the coaches and looked at the facilities very close. We had a good two meetings with Coach Dantonio and Donavon really liked it up there."
Coming from Flint, the elder Clark has a soft spot for the Spartans but will not let it get in the way of his sons final decision.
"Michigan State has always been the program. I was more on the Michigan State side than the Michigan side growing up. Being from Flint, I knew several people who went to Michigan State."
During his visit Donavon was given ample time.
"The spent a lot of time with us as there was no other show in town on the day we visited. Both I and my wife thought everything went very well and we liked what we saw from the school."
One thing that sure is that Donavon will have investigated each program he has interest in attending.
"The week before we visited with Cincinnati. That visit also went very well. Donavon has also been down to Tennessee a couple of times and liked what he has seen there. We've had a good look at the schools in his final five and I think in the next few days we'll know what schools we'll be taking official visits to."
While at one time it looked like Donavon would not make a decision until after his senior season, there is now a chance for an earlier announcement.
"Right now we're looking to set up some early official visits at the start of the season. We may be getting this done sooner than I thought we would."
Will Michigan State be one of the schools to get an official visit?
From talking with Mr. Clark, it sounds very likely that the Spartans will make the cut along with Tennessee and Cincinnati at this time.
SpartanDigest.com will continue to follow the developments of Donavon Clark in the coming weeks.
