2011 Big Ten Football Championship City Is?

The Big Ten Conference wasted little time in announcing the proposed site for the first Big Ten Championship game.

On Monday, Big Ten Commissioner James E. Delany talked about the Big Ten playing a conference championship game with the addition of Nebraska. On Thursday, the conference announced the proposed site for the first of what should be many championship games as the conference continues it's growth towards the future with twelve or more teams.

"We are excited to work with Indiana Sports Corp and Lucas Oil Stadium to finalize an agreement to hold the inaugural Big Ten Football Championship Game in the city of Indianapolis," said Delany. "We felt at this time it was important to identify a site for the first championship game and then spend more time with the other cities and venues with respect to both our basketball tournaments and the football championship games in the future. The city of Indianapolis has been an outstanding host for our basketball tournaments, and we look forward to holding our first Big Ten Football Championship Game in Lucas Oil Stadium."

In the future, it will be interesting to see if the Big Ten stays with indoor facilities or looks to play games outside.
