Spartan 66 Player Rankings #4

In looking at players on the current roster and players getting ready to enter Michigan State this fall, presents its Spartan 66 Rankings. What is our reason for naming sixty-six Spartans? Michigan State last won a National Championship in 1966. We are now at player #4.

SD Ranking: #4

Jerel Worthy

Position: Defensive Tackle

Exp: Redshirt Sophomore

Jerel Worthy is doing what Mark Dantonio brought him to East Lansing to do. A strong point man, Worthy must not take any steps back if the Spartans are to have the defensive success expected of them.

Strengths: Quick first step, explosion.

Weakness: Stay injury free.

Overall: Jerel Worthy is a player I have had the chance to watch from high school to college. I'm not surprised by the success he enjoyed last season and feel he's matured greatly since arriving on campus. If back 100% from the injury that sidelined him this spring, Worthy will be one of the best at his position in the Big Ten.

Why He Made The List: While Greg Jones and others will get the majority of the press, Worthy is a key reason the Spartans defense will be improved in 2010. All the tools are there for Worthy to be a great one and he's got the desire to achieve greatness.
