"I'm real excited to get back into it. Now it is all about waiting to play and for my chance to get on the field and show the coaches what I can do."
While Adams will be looked upon as a veteran, he knows success must be had by all of the Spartans defensive backs if the team expects to reach their goals. How have they been working together this offseason?
"As a group we have worked great together all summer. We talk more than we ever have, and I feel we have gelled. I know we are playing and working harder than we have ever done."
While it is too early in camp to say who will or will not step up from a talented group of freshmen, Adams was quick to praise the younger Spartans.
"The young guys are really coming together. Camp is starting to bring them together more and they all have been coming together and working hard.
For Adams, the 2009 season is a distant memory as he looks forward to the goals he has set for himself.
"I have high goals, every year I set high goals and expectations for myself to be the best player out there. I plan on accomplishing my goals this season.
While Adams knows he will be looked upon to provide leadership, he knows the ultimate leader is Spartans linebacker Greg Jones.
"Greg has been important for everybody on our team. Our defense goes off of him, as he is the anchor of it. We all just want to help him and gel more as a unit to play at a higher level."
While Spartan coaches are expecting a lot from Adams, he knows he expects more out of himself than ever before.
