Am not the happiest about the start to our season. I live in so California so I do not get to see any games or follow like some of you locals. Anyone care to give an update? I know the goalie position is young but we have had some solid goalies step in as frosh. Blue line is it thin? Or are we just not good. Last couple of years we split series either on Friday and play like crud on sat. Or it was the other way around. It bothers me a lot how inconsistent we have become.
Merrill getting hurt out of the gate was a big blow. Trouba getting tossed Friday night, and Serville being out with a concussion left us with 5 D, and we were playing young Mike Szuma who was probably going to be a healthy scratch all year. The goalies are young but are showing a lot of promise. Gotta love AJ scoring every game, and the rest of the O is pretty solid. I am in a wait and see mode until we get healthy.
Did not hear about Merrill. How long? Has he played a full season for us yet? He seems to miss the start of the seasons. So the hope seems to be that the D catches up with the O. It's disappointing to see games are being taken off TV. I know Comcast has a bunch but there was a lot on fox sports Detroit, CBS, and big ten. Can't wait to see the boys. Love college hockey.
I'm a little disappointed too, but mostly with the amount of goals we're giving up. We are thin on the blueline, but it's still way too many. I believe we were overrated coming into the season because we were going to start a freshman goalie. Defense is not playing well but goalies have let in some softies as well.
If we can hold the line until Merrill gets back, I'll be much more comfortable.
The injuries to the defense has definitely made it a rougher start and playing at Marquette has never been kind to Michigan. Red tends to tinker a lot with lineups till the weekend after the GLI when he gets serious!
