Amir Williams Moving Towards Decision

The number two ranked 2011 center in the country, Amir Williams has begin to focus more on his college choice. He talks about the schools involved and when a decision will come.

Amir Williams has had a very busy summer. Along with playing AAU basketball most of the summer, he made the 18 and under USA basketball team that won the gold. Now his focus is on what college he will choose to attend for the next four years.

"Right now I am looking at eight schools, and from those I will make a decision," he told GoBlueWolverine. "Some of those schools have visited already -- Florida was in last week, DePaul made it in on Sunday, Oklahoma was in Monday and Arizona came by to visit yesterday."

"The other schools that I am looking at have not been scheduled but will be at a later date. Those schools are Kentucky, Michigan, Purdue, and Ohio State."

Amir has spoken to all the coaches: Beilein, Donovan, Calipari, Matta, Miller, and the list goes on, but "These schools are really come at me hard," he said.

The Michigan Basketball staff is certainly doing their part as well. "I have talked with Coach Alexander often about the program. Coach Beilein talks to me about school and to make sure I am staying on top of things. He calls me and lets me know how important I am to the program. Michigan is one of the schools really coming after me hard."

Some kids really enjoy the attention of the media and the coaches concerning themselves and what school they will attend. For Williams that is not the case. And so whereas he had been thinking about taking his time, that has certainly changed.

"My decision was going to be in April," he said, "but now I will be announcing in November. There is no reason to drag the process out."
