Dave Pearson Named to Rimington Trophy Watch List

Michigan's Dave Pearson has been named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List, awarded to the nation's top offensive center. See the complete watch list of 29 players from around the nation.

At the start of Spring Practice last year, Dave Pearson moved from defensive tackle to offensive center, where he quickly learned the position. He won the job away from Andy Christopfel, and started all 13 games at his new position. For his efforts on the field, Pearson has been considered one of 29 potential candidates for the Rimington Trophy, awarded to the nation's top offensive center.

The Rimington Trophy was named after former Nebraska player, Dave Rimington, the only two time winner of the Outland Trophy, as the nations best offensive lineman in 1981 and 1982. The three-year old trophy was first presented to Dominic Raiola of Nebraska in 1999, followed Ohio State's LeCharles Bentley, and Miami's Brett Romberg. In addition to Romberg, last year's finalists included Notre Dame's Jeff Faine (runner-up), Wisconsin's Al Johnson, Boston Colege's Dan Koppen, and Iowa's Bruce Nelson.

The Rimington Award winner will be determined by the consensus of four All-America teams, as selected by Football Writers Association of America, America Football Coaches Association, The Walter Camp Football Foundation, and The Sporting News.
