Amir Williams is familiar with Michigan

The number two center prospect in the country, Amir Williams out of Detroit Country Day, visited Michigan this weekend. With his father, mother and little brother in tow, it was all about them as a family knowing Michigan together.

Last night Amir Williams, the talented center out of Detroit Country Day, used the word "recap" a lot because to him in describing his visit to GoBlueWolverine, because that is what his visit was about. He felt like he had been up to Michigan enough times that for him it was a recap of what he already knew.

"I have been up there enough to know what they have. I like the coaching staff and the players. I have toured the facilities. So I know what Michigan has to offer.

For Coach Beilein and staff, they want to know if they made a big enough impression on Amir that he will sign with them. Well the fact that Michigan received an official visit is sufficient, because at one time it didn't seem that they would even get him back on campus. The relationship he has built with assistant coach Bacari Alexander has changed that, and Alexander is a big reason as to why Michigan has a chance with Amir Williams.

"We have a close relationship and that is because we talk a lot."

On his visit this weekend Coach Alexander showed Amir just what he wanted to see concerning big men.

"Coach showed me all these post moves at their practice. I was focusing on the drills he was doing with the big men in the low post. The moves were really advanced, I really liked what they were doing. Coach Alexander has a good track record with bigs, so I feel like if I went there he would give me a shot to be in the league one day with the way he develops big men. Coach Alexander answered all of my questions."

Williams had the chance to meet with players, coaches and the staff.

"Jordan Dumars was my host. I had met most of the guys before and we all were together on Saturday. I also talked with Coach Jordan and Coach Meyers, both are real cool guys."

At the end he spoke with Coach Beilein, and nothing has changed with the way he feels about him.

"I still feel like I could play for Coach Beilein. He and I have a very good relationship, I feel very comfortable with him and the staff. Coach told me what a asset I could be to the team overall. I had a very good visit at Michigan."

With a decision looming next week Amir has enjoyed the process but is glad it is nearing the end.

"It started out as fun but with the e-mails and phone calls … I am just glad it is going to be over with. I am ready to make a decision."
