Michigan Advances to Frozen Four!

The University of Michigan Hockey team defeated Colorado College 5-3 on Sunday afternoon, to advance to the Frozen Four for the third strait year.

After a slow start on Saturday, the Michigan Hockey team jumped out of the gate early against Colorado College on Sunday. Just 2:22 into the contest, Eric Nystrom scored a goal to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead. But the Wolverines couldn't hang on to their edge, giving up back to back power play goals in the middle of the period. Brett Sterling scored for CC at the 8:10 mark, followed quickly by Peter Sejna at the 10:42 mark. But the scoring wasn't over in the first period. Michigan's Milan Gajic scored with less than three minutes remaining to knot the score at two aside entering the first intermission.

Michigan jumped out with another early goal in the second period, when Mark Mink scored an unassisted short handed goal at the 1:23 mark. But Colorado College rallied again, tying the game at the 11:57 mark off a Brett Sterling shot.

In the third period, Jason Ryznar gave Michigan the lead at the 4:25 mark, and the Wolverines didn't look back. Michigan held on to the lead for the remainder of the period, before Mark Mink scored his second goal of the game on a empty netter with just 18 second remaining.

Following the game, the Wolverine's goal tender Al Montoya received the Midwest Regional's Most Outstanding player award. Michigan advances to the Frozen Four for the third year in a row. They will face Minnesota on April 10th in Buffalo, N.Y.
