Morgan Pledges to Michigan

Holland (MI) West Ottawa LB/ATH Desmond Morgan made his way to Ann Arbor for his official visit last weekend and saw everything he needed to see to reach a decison. This afternoon he informed the Michigan coaching staff that he is a Wolverine.

That Desmond Morgan decided to pledge to Michigan doesn't come as much of a surprise that watched his recruitment pick up steam over the last few months. The Wolverines were the first BCS level suitor to extend an offer and he is a lifelong fan of the Maize & Blue. The rising prospect predicted weeks ago that it wouldn't take long for him to reach a decision after traveling to Ann Arbor officially.

"I'm not looking to prolong it that much longer," he told GoBlueWolverine on December 1st. "I'm taking a visit to Northwestern this weekend and then the Michigan visit the following weekend. After taking both those visits I'll be able to nail things down and make a decision from there probably."

Northwestern made things made things a lot closer that many expected. Turning the Wildcats down proved to be very difficult.

"The decision is not at all an easy one," Morgan said after his Michigan visit. "Both schools are top notch."

In the final analysis, however, the pull of the Maize & Blue was too good to resist. Morgan broke the news on his facebook page earlier this afternoon with oe simple phrase:

"Desmond Morgan is a Wolverine. Go Blue!"

The Maize & Blue moved on he versatile youngster primarily for his defensive prowess at linebacker, but the 6-1, 215-pounder is athletic enough to make the move to fullback if that were deemed necessary.

GoBlueWolverine will have more on the newest member of Michigan's 2011 class in the hours to come.
