Sam Webb: Take me through your offer list. How many offers do you have now?
Jarontay Jones: "I don't even know probably like 30 or something like that."
Sam Webb: That's obviously a lot of schools. How do you start to sort through and pick out favorites?
Jarontay Jones: "Just visits and the depth chart really. I want to come in and compete for a spot. I don't want to wait. I think I'm good enough and fight for a spot as a freshman."
Sam Webb: What schools have you visited so far?
Sam Webb: After those visits are any of the schools starting to stick out?
Jarontay Jones: "Right now I'm opening things back up. I'm feeling more schools out."
Sam Webb: You said you are opening things back up. Who where you focused on before?
Jarontay Jones: "Florida and Auburn."
Sam Webb: What was it about those schools that stood out for you?
Jarontay Jones: "They are both similar schools being in the SEC. Every time I go down to their schools, there is so much love and you just feel like family. Both places I could come in and compete early, I just loved everything about both of the schools."
Sam Webb: You've been down south since the first grade. Are you a southern boy now or are you still repping Flint, Michigan? Do you still call yourself a Flintstone?
Jarontay Jones: "I still think I'm a Flintstone. I still got the (phone) number. You know I can't change."
Sam Webb: Okay, so let's talk about the Wolverines. What kind of vibe are you getting off of Michigan and Coach Montgomery right now?
Jarontay Jones: "I like Michigan a lot. I'm really considering them as a choice. They got great things going on up there and I think I could come in and compete for a spot as a freshman."
Sam Webb: I know you mentioned before that you would likely be headed up to Ann Arbor for a visit. What's the latest on that?
Jarontay Jones: "I'll be there very soon. I plan on coming to Flint in the summer. I should be able to make that visit."
Sam Webb: When you talk to Michigan is it mainly Coach Montgomery that you speak with, or have you spoken to other coaches up there?
Jarontay Jones: "I've talked to Coach Mattison and Coach Hoke."
Sam Webb: Give me your impressions. What do you think of those guys through your interactions with them so far?
Jarontay Jones: "I know Michigan likes me a lot. They write me all the time. I think I got the most letters from them. I know they want me a lot and that being my home town school, it is just great. It is a blessing that I have it."
Sam Webb: When you say they write you the most, is it Coach Montgomery all the time?
Jarontay Jones: "All the coaching staff writing me. It is a great feeling. There is so much love from Michigan."
Sam Webb: You said the whole coaching staff?
Jarontay Jones: "Yeah I think the whole coaching staff is writing me. I've got regular letters from all of them really."
Sam Webb: Have you heard anything from Michigan State at all?
Jarontay Jones: "I got an offer from Michigan State too, but I haven't talked to them really."
Sam Webb: Back to Michigan… where do they see you playing? What is their plan for you?
Jarontay Jones: "They plan on me playing that end. They said that I could definitely come in and fight for a spot and just do it."
Sam Webb: When you get ready to make a decision, is distance from going to be a factor? And when I say distance from home, I'm talking distance from your mom?
Jarontay Jones: "Michigan that is my home really. It really doesn't make a difference. I'm going to have family wherever I go."
Sam Webb: Obviously playing time is going to be one of the factors, but what are some of the other factors going to be?
Jarontay Jones: "Definitely tradition of the school. Michigan has great tradition. Just look at all the people they put in the league, it is just great. Florida also, Auburn, Cam Newton and Nick Fairly went in the top 20. It is just tradition really."
Sam Webb: What about a timeline? You said you opened things back up. When are you going to start cutting your list down and then when are you going to make a decision?
Jarontay Jones: "I'm probably going to make a decision before the summer ends. It is not going to take long. I'm going to be on a college tour this summer. I'm going to be everywhere."
Sam Webb: Are you pretty sure that you're going to visit Michigan?
Jarontay Jones: "I'm pretty sure I am. I'm definitely coming up to Flint. I'll come up to Flint to see my dad and uncle."
Sam Webb: What schools does your dad want you to look at?
Jarontay Jones: "My dad really wanted me to go to Florida. I ain't going to lie to you. He wanted me to go to Florida."
Sam Webb: What about mom? Where does she want you to go?
Jarontay Jones: "My mom is funny because I think she wants me to go to Michigan or Clemson."
Sam Webb: What is her rationale behind that?
Jarontay Jones: "Michigan was her dream school and when they were writing me, she put it on the calendar like a birthday card or something."
Sam Webb: You said before that you're going on a college tour. Is this something your family is doing, or are you getting together with other kids?
Jarontay Jones: "For far off schools like Michigan, I'll probably just go with my family. The schools that me and my teammates have together, we'll definitely go down together so we can all get a feel for the university."
