Sam Webb: Okay man, lets cut right to the chase. You've got the fans all fired up recently because you said something about cancelling a trip that you recently planned to take to Auburn? Was there anything deeper to that other than you just rescheduling a visit?
Jordan Diamond: "(Laughter) It wasn't nothing major. It was just for financial reasons. Airfare got expensive so we couldn't make it down."
Sam Webb: I guess you also said something about moving your timetable up and making a decision earlier? Is that something that you going to do or were you just playing with people?
Jordan Diamond: "(Laughter) Right now, I've got to wait it out now. There has been a lot of things have been changed over a couple of days. I've got to stay open minded. I've got to make a decision that is going to affect me for the rest of my life, so I'm not going to rush a decision until I know everything."
Sam Webb: Give me an idea real quick of a few things that have changed for you over the past couple of days.
Jordan Diamond: "Really talking with my coaches. It's not only about the (college) coaches coming to see me during practice, they're coming to see other players. If I make a quick decision, that is going to turn off everything that is going for them. You know I want to make sure my (teammates) get some looks. Also, a lot of things can change with the coaching staffs and things like that. I've got to take my time and wait it out so I don't make the wrong decision."
Sam Webb: I know Ohio State was one of the schools that was showing you a lot of love. What do you think of what went down with Jim Tressel today?
Jordan Diamond: "I found out this morning. I was kind of surprised. Coach Tressel, he was a great person. We had a good conversation every time we talked. Even when I went down there face-to-face. He was a good guy. That surprised me."
Sam Webb: Does that do anything to where Ohio State is on your list right now?
Jordan Diamond: "It rattled Ohio State, but the opportunity at Ohio State is still there. There's an opportunity to play early. They don't have that much depth."
Sam Webb: So getting back to your decision-making process… I've talked to your dad and I know the input he is providing… you just mentioned what your coaches are telling you. I want to know what mom has got to say. What is mom talking about?
Jordan Diamond: "My mom, she thinks that I should make my decision soon because the decision is stressing me out. She likes it everywhere and that's the whole problem (laughter). Every time we've went (to visit a school), she has loved it. That's even harder on me than it is on her. If she enjoyed it, then I enjoy it, so that's a plus. There is no negativity to any school that we've gone too so far. My mom, even though she wants me to commit, she also wants me to take my time. I have no idea where I want to go and that's why I'm staying open minded… so I won't make the wrong decision. She won't let me make the wrong decision that's why she is so hard on recruiting. I feel I should take my time and she is letting me take my time. She has gone on every trip with me. She has been a helpful supportive person."
Sam Webb: What about this summer? Are you going to be getting out on more visits and #2, do you think you are going to be making it back up to Michigan this summer?
Jordan Diamond: "Actually in a couple of weeks I'll be back up to Michigan, probably mid June. I'll be up to Michigan and I'm looking forward to that. During the summer, I might be traveling West up to Oregon, down to Arizona, probably head up to Florida during the summer. There is going to be a lot of traveling"
Sam Webb: Is mom coming with you to Ann Arbor again?
Jordan Diamond: "Yes, she is."
Sam Webb: You said you're keeping an open mind. Does that mean that you're backing off of what you've said all those times before about Michigan being your #1 school?
Jordan Diamond: "That's the thing about it with the open mind thing, there is no #1. Everybody is up there. Everybody is #1 and make the right decision and right now I feel comfortable with every school that I went to, so that is making it harder on me. I just got do my research on every school and just watch college football from here on out, especially during the season so I can see how things transpire."
Sam Webb: Are you paying attention to this recruiting class that Michigan is putting together?
Jordan Diamond: "Yeah Michigan has signed some good tight ends, linebackers, and a couple of O-lineman. I'm very excited for Michigan actually. I can be the cowbell to the whole recruiting thing as they say. If I go, I'll bring a couple more big time guys with me. That's why I'm really taking my time. I've seen all these guys commit and it has been an eye opener for me just to make a decision, but I'm still going to wait it out."
