Michigan versus Ohio State in recruiting is almost as big a deal as the game itself -- the recruits that each team lands quite often determines who wins the games they play. Devan Bogard is one of those players that can make a difference in this great rivalry.
Bogard is a 6'2 180 pound cover guy with speed. He jams off the line and can run with just about any receiver you put him against. Devan is looking at Michigan and has been in contact with the coaches at Michigan.
"I have spoken with Coach Mallory, the defensive backs coach," Bogard told GoBlueWolverine. "He wants me to come up and visit the campus. I talked with Coach Greg Mattison the defensive coordinator (and Bogard's area-recruiter) and he has told me the same thing. Coach Mattison told me I remind him of my former teammate Frank Clark with the way I play."
Michigan is certainly a program that Bogard has had a chance to pay attention to.
"I have interest in Michigan. They are close to home and they have a pretty solid program up there."
As far as his home-state Ohio State Buckeyes, the interest is very strong with them because he grew up watching them. And he says he is not at all affect by what is going on down in Columbus.
"One man does not stop a show," Bogard said. "Coach Tressel was a good guy, but as far as Ohio State I still have interest in that program. My inner circle is not down on them and I am not either with what is going on there. I still speak with guys on the team and they continue to talk to me about Ohio State."
This season, as a senior, Devan wants to step things up as far as being a better rounded football player.
"I want to be sure that I help my team in the leadership department. I want to be a leader for this team. I can only do that by working hard on the field and being an example on and off the field."
With many recruits making their decisions known, Devan is taking his time with the process.
"Recruiting is right where I want it to be. And when the time is right I will know what college I will attend—with the help of my mom and dad as well as my coach."
