NJ LB Toal Talks About U-M Visit

We spoke last night (Thurs.) to top linebacker <B>Brian Toal</B> from Ramsey, N.J., Don Bosco.

Linebacker Brian Toal (6-2, 225 lbs., 4.5 in the 40, 3.0 GPA/960 SAT) from Ramsey, NJ, Don Bosco is MaxEmfingerRecruiting.com's #3 Strongside Linebacker. As a junior, Toal recorded 102 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 12 and a half sacks; as a running back he rushed for 1,275 yards and 22 touchdowns; he also had over 500 receiving yards. I reached him last night (Thurs.).

Did you visit Michigan this spring?

"Yes. I went to Michigan for their first scrimmage. It was good, I liked it a lot. I liked how they practiced. Afterward, I met with Coach Carr and he offered me a scholarship."

Where else have you visited this spring?

"Penn State, Boston College, and Pitt."

How did they compare? Did anything stand out?

"I liked them all about the same ... but I like how Michigan practices; they're intense, they get after it."

Who all has offered you?

"Virginia Tech, Miami, Boston College, Michigan, Syracuse, Iowa, West Virginia, Maryland, Pitt, Rutgers, Michigan State, Vanderbilt, Nebraska, Penn State."

Who are your favorites? And what is your timetable?

"I'm pretty much open at this time. I'll probably take all five visits."

Are you going to a Nike camp, or any summer camps?

"I'm not planning to go to any camp ... probably not."

What is your forte as a player?

"I'd say speed. I ran a 10.9 in a track meet yesterday."

Last question -- how is it playing for your father (Greg Toal is the Don Bosco Head Coach)?

"I like it a lot actually; he works with me at linebacker."

Note: Brian's older brother Michael is a 5th year senior at Boston College.
