The father of Brett Gallimore (6-5, 290 lbs., 5.1 in the 40, 300-lb. bench press, 2.6 GPA) from Riverside, Mo., Park Hill South (Kansas City area) told me:
"I travel a lot, and was hoping to bring Brett down to the Texas A&M Nike Camp. But at the last minute I couldn't go down there then. Since Brett has 20 or so offers now, it probably doesn't matter that much that he didn't go. But Brett is competitive, and he wanted to be there."
Gallimore and his dad attended a U-M spring practice, where he got one of only two (evidently) U-M O-Line scholarship offers.
"I travel for my job as far north as Ohio, so it was easy to take Brett along during his spring break; we just swung up to Michigan. Brett likes (his U-M recruiter, and U-M OL coach) Andy Moeller. Andy said Michigan has offered only Brett and one or two other linemen. When Andy Moeller says something, I believe it."
Regarding Brett's favorites:
"Brett does like Michigan. Michigan is in his top 2-3 most of the time. The rest change from week to week. He has Missouri in there a lot. He likes Oklahoma. He likes Ohio State, but hasn't been there -- same for Florida State. And he likes Iowa. And he has not even looked at the West Coast yet, but Oregon came into his school and offered him, and UCLA says they will offer him. And Michigan -- Michigan has a tremendous team, and it's a tremendous school, and Brett likes Andy Moeller a lot."
Regarding summer camps:
"I'm not sure. Brett will take a class or two in the summer. And he has his own team's summer workouts that he has to attend. We might make two, maybe three camps for one day. If we do that Michigan would be a likely candidate -- I travel up that way so we could make it. As I say, Brett likes Andy."
As a junior, Gallimore recorded an eye-popping 91 pancake blocks.
