Additional Notes from Stanford Nike

Here are some additional notes from Don Hoekwater's and my day at the Stanford Nike yesterday (Saturday): other kids we talked to, others who were no-shows, etc.

Top prospects who were expected to attend but didn't.

- Defensive back Terrail Lambert (5-11, 180 lbs., 4.21 in the 40 {USC Nike Combine}, 3.0 GPA/880 SAT) from Venturs, Calif., St. Bonaventure (in the LA area). After running a 4.21 in this past Tuesday's special USC Nike combine, he pulled a hamstrong in a track meet later in the week. Michigan is his favorite.

- Quarterback Rocky Hinds (USC Nike stats: 6-4, 207 lbs., 4.47 in the 40) from Playa Del Rey Calif., St. Bernard's in the LA area. He was the top quarterback at the USC Nike.

- Fullback/linebacker Matthew Parent (6-0.5, 242 lbs.) from Santa Fe Springs (in the LA area), Calif., St. Paul.

Other possible Michigan recruits who were in attendance.

- Concord De La Salle kids RB Jackie Bates and DB Willie Glasper. Bates (who looked 5-9, and 180 lbs.) told Don and I, "I'll say Michigan is in my top five. I don't have any offers yet." Glasper (who looked 5-10, 175 lbs.) did not express interest in Michigan to us.

- Wide receiver John Peel (who told us his Nike stats were 6-0, 180 lbs., 4.55 in the 40, 25 bench press reps.) from Scottsdale, Ariz., Chaparral told us, "Michigan is certainly in it; they've been sending me things but haven't been to my school yet. I don't have any offers yet).

By the way, in case you missed it. U-M Head Coach Lloyd Carr will be in Super QB Chad Henne's neck of the woods next Tuesday, Lancaster Pa., to deliver the main address at the Manheim Touchdown Club Banquet.
