Cameron Colvin Readjusts His Favs

Has Concord De La Salle WR Cameron Colvin talked to the Michigan coaches since being named MVP at the Stanford Nike camp, and if so, was there an offer? I just got off the phone with Cameron, so let's see what he had to say about The Wolverines...

We had an inkling that something was up at the Stanford Camp. U-M Coach Ron English, along with every other coach there, was keeping a close eye on Concord, Calif., De La Salle WR/DB Cameron Colvin (Stan Nike stats: 6-1, 185 lbs., 4.31 in the 40, 3.85 sec. shuttle, 32.4 inch vertical). I spoke with Cameron yesterday and he told me there was no offer from Michigan. He even gave me his top five schools, in order, as: "UCLA, ASU, Michigan, Miami, and Florida," even though he said, "I really want to go to Michigan. But UCLA and ASU have offered me."

I spoke to him again this evening and he told me he had news: "I called Coach Carr earlier this evening and he offered me a scholarship!" As far as his favorites now, he said, "Michigan has always been my favorite and they are the top school now. I am so excited. Coach Carr and I talked for about 15 minutes and he's really cool. I liked talking to him a lot."

When I asked about a visit Colvin said, "Coach Carr wants me to come in the summer when it's warm." I asked him if snow was a problem and he went on to say, "Nah, I've been in it before and it doesn't bother me. I'm looking forward to it." That almost sounded like a commit, I said. He then said with a chuckle, "No, not yet. I'm going to give it some time just to see what it's like, but I didn't commit."

So now his top five stands as, "Michigan, UCLA, ASU, Florida and Texas, in that order."

Colvin wants to major in Business Managment and has a 2.25 GPA. He told me he'll be taking his ACT this summer but wasn't sure when.

Spring practice for De La Salle begins in a couple weeks. You can be sure that GBW will be there with further updates on Colvin.
