CC Teammates Visit Ann Arbor

Detroit Catholic Central (Mich.) seniors Matt Doneth and Jake Widmer visited Michigan on Saturday. Where do they stand with the Wolverines and what did the coaches tell them?

Detroit Catholic Central has been kind to Michigan over the last few years, sending defensive tackle Mike Martin and contributing a 2012 commit in Matt Godin.

The Wolverines have also offered class of 2013 running back-defensive lineman Wyatt Shallman, and last weekend, they hosted senior offensive tackle Jake Widmer and senior tight end Matt Doneth along with Shallman and Godin.

"The Michigan game was unbelievable," said Doneth, a 6'5, 235-lb prospect. "It was an amazing experience."

Doneth hold offers from Bowling Green, Western Michigan, Central Michigan and a host of Ivy League and FCS programs. The Wolverines did speak with him briefly about where he stands with them.

"The coaches have said that they have two commits at tight end and they aren't sure yet if they are going to take a third one, but that they want to get some early season film on me."

Widmer, a 6'5, 260-lb offensive tackle, is in his first year as full time starter, and his potential has caught the eye of many schools despite not holding any scholarship offers.

"It was great," he said of the visit. "I didn't stay until the end of the game, so I didn't talk to the coaches after, so I'm not sure [about their interest]."

Catholic Central takes on Highland Park this Friday.
