Lemming Meets Michigan Kids in A2

While GBW was busy covering the Stanford Nike Saturday, Tom Lemming of Prep Football Report was in Ann Arbor doing his spring session with the top kids from Michigan. Lemming: "Except for Morgan Trent, who was at Stanford with you, all the top Michigan kids I asked showed up -- and one from Ohio too." According to Lemming, there is definitely a top group of Michigan kids shaping up.

Lemming told me:

"Will Johnson (DL) from Lake Orion, Charles Stewart (DB) from Farmington Hills Harrison, Roger Allison from Lake Orion, Justin Hoskins (RB) from Grand Rapids Creston -- they were all there. I'd call those the four most recruited kids in the state right now."

"The most recruited kid in Michigan right now, besides Morgan Trent -- is Will Johnson. And he's the fastest rising. He's a very athletic lineman -- he's a defensive lineman right now, but I think in college he could grow into a great offensive guard."

"From Ohio was Fred Davis (WR) from Toledo Rogers, who came up with his mom and dad. I was at Ohio State for most of the Ohio kids the day before, Saturday, but Toledo is only 40 minutes from Ann Arbor. I think Michigan likes Davis, Adrian Arrington (WR from Ia.) and Dwayne Jarrett (WR from N.J.). And (WR) Cameron Colvin -- you and I saw him in San Antonio at the Reebock (US Army) Combine."

"Also there (in Ann Arbor Saturday) were Alex Mitchell (OL) from Bay City Central, John Thompson (LB) from Detroit Crockett, Ronald Talley from Detroit Renaissance."

"Until the summer camps, it's still too early to definitely pick a top group. Last year for example, Jake Long would not have been in the top group right now, but then he went to the Michigan Camp and got offered -- he had really improved himself."

I asked Lemming about other kids as well. In attendance were Dewayne Roland (DL) from Southfield, Carl Grimes (WR) from Detroit Deporres, Josh Hunt (LM) from Jackson Lumen Christi. There were others as well. Not in attendance were Vernon Gholston from Detroit Cass Tech, Demarco Hughes and Fred Wilson from Detroit MacKenzie, Wendall Brown from Detroit King, Dwayne Holmes from Det. Henry Ford, Jamaal Gause from Harper Woods Trinity, and (if I recall correctly) Ernest Jackson from Detroit Country Day and Jamarco Simmons from Flint Central.
