Charles Stewart was on of the top athletes in attendance at the Nike Camp in Ann Arbor a few weeks ago. His stats were Ht: 6-1.5, Wt: 188 lbs., 40:4.47, BP: 18 reps, Vert: 28.0, Shuttle: 4.23. Those numbers alone were enough to impress even the most seasoned observers. However, it was his physical play in the one on one drills that really garnered the most attention. When I visited Harrison High a few months ago, Coach John Herrington let it be known that physical play was one of Charles' strong points. The coach labeled Charles his best athlete and biggest hitter. That physical nature was on display against MSU commit Deon Curry at the Nike Camp when Charles barely let him off of the line of scrimmage in a couple of face-offs. Another time he exhibited excellent coverage on a deep pass to Fred Davis.

Charles reminds me a lot of Julius Curry coming out of high school, except he's an inch and a half taller and a step or two faster than Julius.
I caught up with Charles last night and got the latest on his recruitment.
How have things been going for you since the Nike Camp? Have you been hearing from more schools or gotten any more offers?
Yes, I've been hearing from a lot more schools. As far as offers go, Wisconsin and Indiana have now offered to go along with the one I have from Kentucky.
How did you feel about your Nike performance?
I feel like I did all right, but at the same time I feel like I could have done better.
I understand that you were at Tom Lemming's recruiting day. How did that go?
It went pretty good. The top 20 players in Michigan were there. I got a chance to catch up with some old friends and meet some new guys too. Other than that we just took pictures and did a little interview.
Are you still running track?
Yes. We have the regionals Friday.
What are your top times this season?
My top time in the 100m is 10.94 and my top time in the 200m is 22.3.
Have you heard from Michigan recently?
Yes. Coach Malone came to my school and Coach English sent a hand written letter.
What did the letter say?
Basically it said that he really liked how I did at the Nike Camp and he looked forward to working with me when I come to camp in June.
Do you have a favorite right now?
At this point,…….I can't really say that I do.
Do you still plan on deciding in July?
Yes, I still plan on deciding in July or maybe August.
That means that your decision will come down to the schools that have offered you by that point.
Did you get the feeling from the letter or from your Coach (Herrington) after Malone visited, that an offer may be coming?
I don't really know, but I really hope it does.
