V-Tech Nike:DC DB Donte Herrod

Another top Michigan recruit at Saturday's Virginia Tech Nike Camp was Washington D.C., H.D. Woodson's defensive back Donte Herrod. Our correspondent talked to Herrod's Coach Wayne Johnson, and to Donte himself.

H.D. Woodson Assistant Coach Wayne Johnson: "You work with Tom Beaver? Yeah I know Tom. Go ahead and ask us questions."

Donte, who has offered you, and who are your favorites?

Donta Herrod: "I've got quite a few offers. Coach Campbell has been recruiting me for Michigan. I don't have a favorite."

Coach Johnson: "Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Maryland, Georgia, Syracuse, those are the top ones who have offered him; there are more. He's qualified too with a 2.7 GPA and a 980 SAT."

What summer camps are you planning to attend?

Donte: "I plan to camp at Michigan, Virginia Tech and Maryland."

Our correspondent's scouting report: Not quite as big as we'd expected, Donte measured at 6-1, 180 lbs. He looked like a safety. Like the other DB's, he struggled in coverage on the wet field, which was muddy and slippery at the end of having drills run on it all day.

Herrod is considered the top prospect in the Washington D.C. area.

As with Shipley, pictures of Herrod will be forthcoming.
