Did Thrash Make Auburn Nike Splash?

An unofficial visitor for the final Michigan spring practice/scrimmage was Ark.'s top QB Adam Thrash. Adam attended Sunday's Auburn Nike, and even though the camp was 'called' on account of a thunderstorm right after the performance testing was done, one group waited around and went through position drills -- the quarterbacks.

The quarterback competition at the Nike Camps is geared toward selecting the Elite 11 Camp in San Diego in July. So the quarterbacks assembled for the Auburn Nike HAD to have their chance to run through their passing drills. Therefore, after Auburn's small indoor practice field (containing an end zone through 30 yard line) had been vacated by the 400+ attendees who had fled there when the lightening started, the QBs stuck around with a few wideouts and went through their paces. One of the quarterbacks competing was Adam Thrash from Little Rock, Ark., Pulaski.

About half of the 15-or-so quarterbacks in attendance were 6-2 or shorter, and the other half 6-3 or taller. Thrash definitely held his own, and was probably the top performer in the 'taller group', although the top two performers overall were probably in the 'shorter group', Ga.'s Alex Mortenson (son of ESPN's Cris) and Miss.'s Blake Barnes. Thrash showed good footwork and a good-and-accurate arm, although like most of the kids his arm wore down a little towards the end (the kids threw a LOT of full-speed balls in less than an hour, maybe 100 or so). I spoke a couple times during the day to Adam. Here is the pertinent info.

Adam, what were your test results?

"I measured 6-3 1/2 in height. I did not run a 40 yard dash because my hamstring has been bothering me."

What are your summer camps plans?

"I'm definitely planning to come to the Michigan Camp, for a day or so."

Adam's dad adds: "Coach Loeffler said to just come on for a day or so. So we'll be there the 16th and 17th. We know the whole world, including Michigan, is after Chad Henne, but Adam wants to go up there and compete."

As a junior Thrash completed 262-of-406 passes for 3,973 yards with 48 touchdowns. He is MaxEmfingerRecruiting.com's #16 drop back quarterback.

Note: I took a lot of photos of Adam during the QB drills. If they turn out (I used a good camera, but I'm no photographer, and lighting in the indoor facility was poor with only every-other light turned on for some reason) I'll present them to you in a day or so.
