Another Sarasota Riverview OL Likes Michigan

U-M offensive line star David Baas came to Ann Arbor from Riverview High School in Sarasota, Fla. This year there is another rising O-liner at Riverview -- one of the top two linemen at this spring's Florida Nike Camp. And U-M is in his top five.

Student Sports named Sarasota Riverview's Drew Miller one of its top two offensive linemen at the University of Florida Nike Camp this spring. He measured 6-4 and 290 lbs., ran a 5.3 in the 40 and an excellent 4.8 sec. shuttle, had a 24-inch vertical jump, and registered 27 reps on the bench (185 lbs.).

I talked to Drew Saturday.

Did Michigan visit your school this spring?

"Yes. Coach Campbell came to the school. Then that night he called me and offered me a scholarship. He said Michigan would recruit me hard."

Do you know David Baas?

"Yes. He graduated just before I started at Riverview. But I have met him, a couple times."

Who else has offered you?

"Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Duke ... those are some of them."

Do you have a top five?

"Yes: Florida, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State and Tennessee. That's not in any order. I'll visit them all, either unofficially or officially."

What is it you like about Michigan?

"It's just great a football school. They've had a lot of great O-linemen coming out of there."

Are you going to attend any summer camps?

"No, not this year. I think I'm just going to take some unofficial visits. If I do, I'll go to them all, to my five favorites."

Regarding his academics:

"My core GPA is 2.5. And I have a 1000 SAT score."

Miller competes in national weightlifting competitions, and has a 350 lb. bench press and a 500 lb. squat. His blocking graded out at over 90 percent as a junior.
