Henne Sets His Summer

I took Pa. QB Chad Henne away from his homework Tues. to ask about summer plans. His answer is intriguing.

Also: our PSU Nike photos of him.

I also decided to ask for myself if there was going to be a 'press blackout' starting June 11 for Chad Henne (6-3, 230 lbs., 4.6 in the 40, 3.4 GPA) West Lawn, Pa., Wilson.

Chad, when is school out for you?

"June 13 is my last day."

Where are you going to make unofficial visits in the summer?

"I'm planning visit to Michigan again, and that's probably it. I think we're going there the June 20th weekend." [Note: the U-M Summer Camp ends the 19th.]

What schools have you made unofficial visits to so far?

"I've been to Michigan once (a year ago), and to Penn State, Purdue and Illinois."

I've seen you listing lately Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee and Miami. Is that it?

"Those four, and Georgia."

What is you decision date?

"Right now I'm planning to decide sometime before my first game."

You're having a press conference on June 11th and then cutting off the press?

"That's my coach's plan."

Note: my two main memories of three years of attending Nike Camps are watching Gabe Watson's ballet-dancer gracefulness two years ago, and watching Henne dominate the PSU Nike Camp this past April. I don't know if Chad will be named to the Elite 11 Camp or not, but he has more physical and psychological maturity than any high school quarterback I've seen in person.
