His Recruiting Story
In his first recruiting class for the Wolverines, Brady Hoke did a number recruiting the state of Ohio. Kaleb Ringer became the first member from the state down south to join Michigan's new head man as the Wolverines second commitment, somewhat of a surprise given his family ties to the Wolverines rival. Kaleb's uncle, Javon Ringer, was a star at Michigan State before making his mark in the NFL. Even though he has family ties to MSU, he had his heart set on playing for the Buckeyes, like many Ohio high school prep stars do. When OSU was slow to show love, Kaleb wandered North. As a junior, Kaleb led all tacklers for Northmont tallying 85 total tackles and a sack. His efforts during competitions and camps also provided him many offers from the likes of Illinois, West Virginia, Syracuse, and Indiana to name a few before committing to U-M.
His Commitment Comments
"I know that was the right decision to make. I went to Iowa. I went to Michigan State. I went to Ohio State. You name it I was there. I wasn't more impressed at any school than I was at Michigan. Walking into the stadium. It was like the stadium was sacred."
Kaleb suffered an injury which hampered his senior campaign, but was truly beginning to mature and fill out his 6' 0" frame beforehand. He shows tenacity in everything he does, and pursues and tackles downhill. He bolsters his run-stopping skills with the agility, quickness, and ability to drop back in coverage. He needs to add muscle mass, but, when he does, look out. He will be a good. The first thing you notice when watching Ringer in action is his ability to make plays. He shows gritty toughness with a hitter's mentality from the middle linebacker spot. Kaleb is not afraid to mix it up. He does a great job of filling gaps and stopping the run. His ability to run from sideline to sideline and to do so with good angles makes him even more of a defensive weapon. Overall, Kaleb Ringer looks to be the best Ringer to come out of the Dayton, Ohio area since Javon – Dave Berk.
