GBW Dream Team Interview –
Junior Season Highlights –
His Recruiting Story
The Wolverines continue to build backer depth with their third commit and second All-State Dream Team member. Even as a sophomore, he already had the physique of a division one linebacker, and during the Michigan underclassmen camp he caught the eye of many scouts and attention of opponents. He continued impressive showing at camps, and even more so on the field. As a junior he made over 90 tackles, four picks and seven sacks from his defensive spot, while providing 10 touchdowns playing running back. His undeniable athletic ability on both sides of the field earned him offers from Alabama, Oklahoma, Miami (Fl), Michigan State, and many others. He continued on with an excellent showing in his senior campaign which saw Cass Technical win the state championship, his selection to the Army All-American Bowl, and continues the pipeline that Michigan has maintained with Cass Tech.
His Commitment Comments
"You only live one time, so I am going to live my dream by wearing the Maize and Blue. It's a great education, great alumni and I feel it's the best place to play."
Royce already meets the D1 eye-test, and shows the aggressive tenacity a team wants in a run stopper. His play on offense we believe also helps him play well in space, and when he gets a bead on runners he shows intent to put them down or rip the ball. He is truly has the physical presence to play inside, and the athleticism to move outside depending upon where Michigan needs him and has the potential to compete early. An aggressive player who is best when in attack mode and shooting gaps. Good ability in coverage, as he has good ball skills and length. Improved reading plays, but can still have a tendency to overrun some plays. Often times, he is beating blocks with speed and sheer aggressiveness, so he will have to learn to take on and shed blockers at the college level - Allen Trieu.
