His Recruiting Story
Though living and playing in Iowa, Amara comes to Michigan from tragic beginnings of war-torn Sierra Leone to become an excellent citizen, and a phenomenal football player. Darboh started receiving national attention when as a junior he recorded 646 yards receiving, and six touchdowns while averaging over 13 yards a catch. Following that breakout season, coaches noticed his sure hands, excellent routes, and ability to stretch the field which earned him offers Notre Dame, Florida, Nebraska, Michigan State, and his new homeland school Iowa. He had an even larger senior campaign with a 765 yard and an 11 touchdown season. A season that earned him All-State and All-Conference honors.
His Commitment Comments
"It was a great atmosphere, and they (are) … great fans," Darboh said "They let me know that I'm the right fit for the direction that their offense is heading."
Darboh has deceptive speed as he has a long stride; his size also offers him an advantage that he takes full benefit from and especially against smaller corners. Goes up for the ball at its highest point, and is a definite threat in corner and end-zone routes. With Michigan's attrition at WR via expulsion and graduation he could truly challenge to play as a frosh. "Above average size and speed ratio. Maybe not a burner, but has solid deep speed. Excellent hands, ball skills, and ability to go up and get the ball in traffic. He tracks the ball well and has good body control. After the catch he has good ability and is a pretty strong kid that can break tackles in the open field" - Allen Trieu.
