Camp Week Begins!

A week of Michigan football camping began today with 500 women (and yours truly! Yes!) under sun-splashed skies on the U-M football practice field: The Michigan Women's Football Academy. Tomorrow is the start of the Michigan Summer High School Boy's Football Camp, with 1200 kids coming in this year for a week of intensive coaching. Here is our already-revised "<B>55+</B> (not just 50!) <B>Top U-M Campers</B>."

Quarterbacks

- Chad Henne (6-3, 230 lbs., 4.6 in the 40, 3.4 GPA) from West Lawn, Pa., Wilson. He will actually visit immediately after camp ends.

- NEW Blake Barnes (6-2, 200 lbs.) from Baldwyn, Miss. He the top quarterback at the Auburn Nike in May, and may be the top Dixie (non-Fla.) quarterback. He is Tom Lemming's #15 quarterback.

- Adam Thrash (Planned 2003 U-M Camper, Auburn Nike stat: 6-3 1/2 … 220 lbs., 4.8 in the 40, 3.2 GPA/18 ACT) from Little Rock, Ark, Pulaski.

- Sean Lewis (Planned 2003 U-M camper, 6-7, 210 lbs., 4.1 GPA/27 ACT) from Oak Lawn, Illinois, Richards.Note: Sean is ddefinitely coming to camp.

- NEW Brian Hoyer (Possible 2003 U-M camper, U-M Nike stats: 6-3, 180 lbs., 4.81 in the 40, 2 bench press reps., 29.1 inch vertical, 4.29 sec. Shuttle, 3.3 GPA) from Cleveland St. Ignatius.

- Jordan Steffy (Planned 2003 U-M camper, 6-1, 195 lbs.) from Lancaster, Pa., Conestoga Valley. He's now got offers from North Carolina, Pitt, Maryland, Purdue, Indiana and Duke.

- NEW Mike Vlahogeorge (U-M Nike stats: 6-4, 220 lbs., 5.15 in the 40, 10 bench press reps., 27.9 inch vertical, 4.66 sec. shuttle, 3.2 GPA/1040 SAT) from Lafayette, Ind., Jefferson. As a junior he passed for 4,285 yards and 37 touchdowns, averaging 43.3 attempts per contest.

- Brian Brunner (Planned 2003 U-M camper, 6-2, 200 lbs.) from Hartford, Wis., Union. As a junior he passed for 1,694 yards and 20 touchdowns.

- Paul Cianciolo (Planned 2003 U-M camper, 6-5, 220 lbs., 4.77 in the 40) from Fort Dorchester, S.C. As a junior he completed 53 percent of his passes for 2007 yards and 17 touchdowns.

- David Wess (Planned 2003 U-M camper, 6-2, 195 lbs., 4.6 in the 40) from Whitehall, Oh. As a junior he passed for over 1000 yards and ran for over 500 more.

- Running back/fullback George Bell (Planned 2003 U-M Camper, 5-11, 225 lbs., 4.5 in the 40, 365 lb. Bench press, 2.5 GPA) from Fayetteville, N.C., Jack Britt. One of the USA's top junior prospects a year ago, he suffered an ACL in his third game as a junior.

- Jamaal Edwards (Possible 2003 U-M Camper, 6-0, 196, 4.4) from Greensboro, N.C., Dudley. He reportedly has offers from UNC, Miami, Florida State, NC State, Virginia and Clemson. Note: if he visits, top DL Demarrio Pressley may accompany him. Edwards is MaxEmfingerRecruiting.com's #4 tailback.
