I reached the father of Chris Rogers (6-3, 240 lbs., 4.7 40, 340-lb. bench press, 3.3 GPA/950 SAT) from Wexford, Pa., North Allegheny (in western Pa.).
I asked him about Chris' recruitment:
"Michigan was the first school to offer Chris, back in the winter. Chris also looked at the local schools: Pitt, and later on Penn State. But once he saw Michigan for the very first time last winter, that was pretty much it for him. He likes the Michigan campus better than Pitt's more urban setting. And by the time Penn State got on him he was already pretty much sold on Michigan."
And he made a couple comments as well regarding Chris as a player:
"I'm not an expert at football. But every school that looked at Chris' tape really liked him. They all said he is fast for a defensive end."
"I am pretty sure Chris will stay at defensive end in college. I think he's a little short for tight end."
"I thought ND would be a great place to visit, but he told me, 'You go. I know what school I want to go to!' "
Note: Mr. Rogers is sending us a picture of Chris. His Elvis-like sideburns have grown into a thin beard!
