Arizona Super Tight End Zach Miller

Continuing our never ending search for top propects and offers out west, we've expanded into Arizona to chat with Phoenix, Ariz. Desert Vista High School super tight end Zach Miller. Is playing for a certain Big Ten school in the future?

Zach Miller (6-5, 240, 4.7, 4.0, 24 ACT) one of the top tight end prospects on the west coast, had this to say Tuesday night about his recruitment, "They sure spend a lot of money. They send me all kinds of stuff, media guides, handwritten letters, and they come out to visit. It's quiet now because nobody's calling, but I enjoy the process."

How many offers do you have?

"Right now I have 19 offers, my top schools are Arizona State, Miami, Tennessee, USC, UCLA, and Michigan."

Do you have a favorite out of those?

"Yes, ASU and Miami are my top two right now. It would be nice to stay close to my family so they can watch me play, but I also don't have a problem leaving Arizona."

Did Michigan offer you a scholarship?

"Coach (Ron) English came out to may school to visit, then he called me later and said there was a scholarship waiting for me to play football at Michigan. A couple days later I talked to Coach (Lloyd) Carr and he said the same thing. Coach English told me they wanted to sign a tight end this year and I was their guy."

When will you make a decision?

"I want to take all my visits first, so probably not until after the season. I don't think we have any off-weeks so I won't be able to make any visits until after the season is over. I'm definitely going to visit Michigan."

What are you looking for in a school?

"Playing time is a priority because I want to get to the NFL, so I'll be looking at things like how the coaches develop players and how many players they've put in the NFL. I want to play where I can catch the ball. English told me they were goint to use the tight end as a receiver a lot more than they have in the past."

Describe yourself as a player.

"I run good routes and have great hands. I also have good mechanics."

Are you going to attend any summer camps?

"I went to the one-day ASU camp and that's all I'm going to do as far as camps. We're working out 2 days a week doing 7 on 7 drills and lifting in the mornings."

Zach's brother, Brent, just signed with ASU but he has said in the past that won't be a factor in his decision.
