PA TE Orndoff looks forward to U-M visit

Pittsburgh (PA) Seton LaSalle tight end Scott Orndoff is slated to visit Michigan this weekend. GBW was able to catch up with the three-star TE recruit as he talked about his upcoming visit to Ann Arbor, the possibility of Michigan's 2013 class filling up soon, a possible decision, and more.

Pittsburgh (PA) Seton LaSalle tight end Scott Orndoff was committed to Wisconsin last month, but with the Badgers losing key members of their coaching staff to other schools, the three-star prospect has reopened recruiting and is taking a unofficial visit to Ann Arbor this weekend. "The reason I have interest in Michigan is, since they started recruiting me, they have made sure I stay in good contact with them," Orndoff said to GoBlueWolverine.

What impresses him about the Wolverines? "The strength of their football program and how much it has improved over the last couple years. Also with the recruiting class they are building up now for 2013, it sure looks like it is going in the right direction football wise. Michigan definitely interests me a little bit."

With Michigan currently having 15 commitments for the 2013 class, Orndoff said he will probably have to make a decision soon if he wants to be a future Wolverine.

"If I decide I want to go there, I will have to make a decision quickly," Orndoff said, "because of how quickly they are filling their spots. Like every player I just want what is best for me. Like whether it would be the school (academics), or how much playing time I am going to get. There is a lot that goes into it (recruiting). But definitely the way this class is filling up, I can't take my time if I decide to go there. They are not going got wait for me, you know."

The 6'6, 245-pound tight end has been primarily recruited by Michigan offensive line coach Darrell Funk, and has built a good relationship with the Maize & Blue O-line coach. He also talked with Michigan coach Brady Hoke and offensive coordinator Al Burges for the first time last week. Orndoff said he is looking forward to meeting the coaches in person and see what Michigan's campus has to offer.

"I am looking forward to going up there and meeting the coaching staff. I'll have a chance to meet with academic advisors. I'll have a chance to meet the strength and condition coach, and see their facilities and all that."

Orndoff currently has offers from Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, West Virginia, Virginia, Pittsburgh and Boston College. As far as a chance at a possible commitment after his visit this weekend, he said he will gauge his visit and talk commitment possibilities with his family if the feeling is right.

"I'm just going to try to get a feel for the place. After I come home from the visit, if I like it I will sit down with my family and ask them what they think about it. And go from there."
