Della Valle to visit Michigan?

With scholarships suddenly available in the 2012 class, Nevada combo guard Amedeo Della Valle has been hearing from the Wolverines. Will Della Valle head northeast for an offer?

It appears the Michigan basketball coaching staff has been well aware of the possibility of freshman PG Trey Burke jumping to the NBA.

And with three other players leaving the program as transfers last week, Beilein and staff were smart to do their due diligence and keep recruiting for the class of 2012 and 2013.

One prospect that has seen his attention from Michigan increase over the past week is Nevada combo guard Amedeo Della Valle . But the recruiting of him by the Wolverines is not new.

"They started talking to me a couple of months ago," Dalle Valle told GoBlueWolverine. "And then Coach Jordan came to one of my games. But he's never really talked to me about a scholarship because they didn't have one available. Last week they said that they had three transfers so they now have a scholarship for me -- and Coach Beilein came to visit me when we played on Thursday."

With the increased attention and cross country visit from head coach John Beilein, Della Valle was thrilled to have Beilein in town but, he wasn't necessarily surprised upon hearing the news of scholarship openings.

"I kind of expected it, because I think I knew someone was going to transfer -- but I didn't expect three people to transfer though. So they've been talking to me about the program and how I can fit in the program, the team and everything."

At 6'5 and 180 pounds, Della Valle is a three point specialist – and what does he like about the Wolverines?

"Probably the style of play," he said. "The way they play with four outside guys and one inside so they spread the court and shoot a lot of threes."

Della Valle has been able to have some detailed conversations regarding his role within the offense in Ann Arbor and he might be asked to do more than stretch the floor from the perimeter.

"It [his role] depends a lot on what Trey Burke will do," said Della Valle. "Coach Beilein told me pretty much, some minutes at the point and then at the two." As far as playing the point, he said, "I need to work on it but like, I'll have -- if he leaves and I end up going to Michigan I will have like all of the summer to work on it."

In addition to Michigan's overtures, Della Valle is hearing from some of the nation's best programs – Arizona, Gonzaga, Ohio State and California.

With offers in hand and time running out, Della Valle has one visit set for sure and two others he knows he'd like to take in the near future.

"I will go to Arizona on the 13th, then I will go to Gonzaga, and then Michigan after that," said Della Valle. "And then we'll see."

Della Valle plans to make a decision at the end of April.

Asked what will be a major factor in his ultimate decision, Della Valle was clear and direct.

"I want to play right away and make an impact."
