Michigan getting a look from Jonathan Allen

Jonathan Allen out of Stone Bridge high school in Ashburn, Virginia has visits set up visits with his two early leaders, Alabama and Florida. GBW recently talked with him and he told us about a third school that he might visit, and what his plans are once he gets on a college campus.

Jonathan Allen's father wants his son to examine other schools so that he will make a conscious decision on choosing a college. Mr. Allen didn't want this process to be a rushed choice.

"I wanted him to look around and see what other schools had to offer," he told GoBlueWolverine. "I felt like if he had 0% chance to make it to the NFL then pick the school with a great education. I told him if he had a 5-10% chance of playing at the next level choose a school for football. I feel he has done his due diligence in looking at these colleges."

With Florida and Alabama being his only two visits scheduled, Michigan is a school that he is giving a little more attention too.

"Michigan is in the Big Ten and I have seen them on television they are the caliber of team I am looking at," Jonathan told GBW. "I have talked with Jerry Montgomery (defensive line coach) -- we have had good conversations. I enjoy talking with him."

With his versatility, some schools are recruiting him for linebacker and other as defensive end. Coach Montgomery has given him an idea of how Michigan will use him.

"Coach Montgomery told me I am being recruited as a defensive end -- he said that is where I will play. On special occasions I will drop back in coverage."

And Michigan does intrigue him enough that he said, "I would like to know more about Michigan, so I am trying to set up a visit for this summer to take a look at them."

With Alabama and Florida out in front Michigan has some work to do. Jonathan laid out his reasons for liking Alabama as much as he does.

"I really like Alabama, I like their intensity and the way they play. Having the chance to play under Nick Saban would be special."

Allen just wants to have the opportunity to contribute early at the college he will attend. In talking to him about the type of player he is it would be difficult to keep him off the field.

"I play with intensity out on the field. I am relentless and I try to out-hustle everyone when I am playing. I will never give up on a play. I just want to get on the football field as soon as possible."

Decision time for Allen could be sooner rather than later, with him visiting Florida and Alabama in April, and possibly Michigan in the summer.

"It is highly probable that at the end of the visits a decision will be made," says Mr. Allen.
