I got a call this afternoon from Charles Stewart (2003 U-M Camper, U-M Nike stats: 6-1 1/2, 188 lbs., 4.47 in the 40) from Farmington Hills, Mich., Harrison.
I thought you were going to visit Notre Dame? Why did you change your mind?
"I reminded myself that I wanted to go to Michigan my entire life. It wasn't worth it to me to go down to Notre Dame and risk missing out on what I've wanted to do all my life."
So how did the commitment happen?
"I called Coach Carr at his office yesterday afternoon and talked to him for just a few minutes because he had a meeting to go to. He gave me his home number. So I called him at home a little later, and told him I wanted to commit. Coach Carr was excited -- he said, 'Wow, you made my day! You will never regret choosing Michigan!"
You were going back and forth about camping at Michigan and all. Can you say more about that?
"I'll say this. I'd been talking to Morgan Trent all week. We're good friends. He really wanted me to come to Michigan. And he's excited it worked out. Now I'm going to try to do the same thing with Jamar Adams. I've already talked to him. I'm going to try to get him to join this class!"
