When Laquon Treadwell hopped in the car last Friday his intent was to make his way to the Sooner State to check out Oklahoma’s program. He wasn’t on the road very long before he realized Mother Nature had other plans.
“We were driving and we stopped at my sister’s house in Springfield,” recalled Treadwell. “My offensive coordinator at the high school called me and said the coaches said I shouldn’t come down because tornadoes were coming.”
The change of plan created an opening on his visit itinerary that Michigan was all too happy to fill. The combination of the Spring Game atmosphere and the slew of commitments in attendance made for another enjoyable experience in Ann Arbor.
“It was real good,” Treadwell said regarding the visit. “It was a bunch of hanging out… and that’s probably what I liked the most. Shane (Morris), Taco (Charlton), Kyle (Bosch), Jaron (Dukes), Khalid (Hill)… I hung out with a bunch of guys. They were just chillin'. That’s probably what I liked the most. They weren’t really trying to sell me on the program or anything.”
The Michigan coaches took a similar tact when it was their turn to court the four-star wideout.
“They basically explained the pro-style offense to me,” Treadwell recalled. “I was in Coach Borges’ office before I left and he just explained it to me. We were just hanging out. Then coach Heck said he wasn’t rushing me or nothing. I’m going to take all of my officials and make my decision after the season.”
To date Treadwell hasn’t settled on a list of favorites nor has he determined which schools he plans to officially with possible exception. Will Ann Arbor be one of his destinations?
“Yeah, I think so,” he replied.
