Treadwell Dominant on Day 1 of IMG 7 on 7

Four star wide receiver Laquon Treadwell headed north with his Core 6 teamto Michigan this weekend for the Detroit IMG 7 on 7 looking to "take over" on the field. Laquon discusses with GBW his performance on Day 1 and the match-up with Shane Morris and Max Exposure, as well as his plans for Saturday night in the mitten.

Whenever Crete-Monee (Illinois) receiver Laquon Treadwell heads to the State of Michigan, Wolverine fans instantly hope the trip results in the addition of the 4 star to an already star studded class of 2013.

For Treadwell however, as well as for the rest of the Core 6 squad, the trip up I-94 isn't about visiting Michigan but, instead, a chance for each of them to showcase their skills against some of the top talent in the Midwest at the Detroit IMG 7 on 7 at Avondale High School. As Treadwell tweeted throughout the entire week leading up to the tournament, he and Core 6 were looking to "take over."

Treadwell told GoBlueWolverine that the tweet was, "Just playing around but being serious at the same time. I wasn't really trying to be cocky or anything, but I was just being serious with my teammates—they read my tweets so I just wanted them to come in serious; you know, it's a business trip not just a vacation."

It didn't take long for everyone in attendance Saturday morning to realize how serious Core 6 was when they matched up with a talented Maximum Exposure team that includes 2013 Michigan commitments Shane Morris, Khalid Hill, Jourdan Lewis and Csont'e York.

"It was a good game, I mean, high intensity," said Treadwell. "They had a pretty nice defense. We just—we fell short on the last play and there was nothing we could do about it after that."

Treadwell was battling tight press coverage from 2014 Cass Tech CB Damon Webb, who fought hard to contain Treadwell, but the star receiver out of Illinois shown bright, leaping above two defenders throughout the entire game to make catches not many are capable of.

"It was just something I do, I don't really know how to explain it," said Treadwell. "I wasn't really paying attention to who was there, I was just going for the ball—and I think it's just something I do all the time so I'm just used to it."

In Core 6's third and final game of the day, Treadwell was receiving so much attention from the defensive coverage his teammates were huge benefactors, roaming free in the secondary on their way to third victory for the day.

"Double coverage with a safety over the top of the corner," Treadwell described the coverage, "just running with me. And so the slots were just making plays. That's how we came away with that win."

With competition over with for the day, Treadwell told GBW that he plans to spend Saturday night hanging out with possible future teammate and one of Michigan's biggest recruiters, Shane Morris.

As for Sunday, Core 6 and Maximum Exposure are sure to meet again in tournament play at the Detroit IMG 7 on 7 tournament, and Treadwell remains extremely confident in his team's ability to take down Morris and crew.

"I think we're going to beat them," said Treadwell. "I just know, I just think we're going to beat them. I think we're going to come out better than today. We were just hyped up to play them, that's all, and once we got used to playing them and knew what they were trying to do, I think we got comfortable making plays on them."

GoBlueWolverine will have plenty of notes, interviews and highlights of the weekend tournament throughout the next few days including a video interview with Laquon Treadwell as he breaks down his recruitment as it currently stands.
