Tyler Wiegers profile

GBW: Talk about your visit to the Michigan BBQ. Did the visit go well?

Tyler Wiegers: "The visit went great. I got to meet all the coaches and see all the facilities on the campus and everything. A lot of the 2013 commits and some of the 2014 guys were looking at it, so it was pretty awesome."

GBW: You mentioned the coaches, were you able to build any relationships with any coaches?

Tyler Wiegers "Well coach Jackson is the guy that recruits my school. I got to talk to him a lot. Then obviously coach Borges, cause I am quarterback. They said I did a great job at camp. Just to work hard and open a relationship with them. And I could see an offer in the future."

GBW: Coach Borges is known as an offensive guru, Could you see yourself playing in that type of offense in college?

Tyler Wiegers: "Yeah definitely, it is pro-style offense. I am a pro-style quarterback. I like that, and coach Borges is a great coach. He is always working hard and keep you stuff. I could definitely see myself playing there."

GBW: What are your expectations going into this season?

Tyler Wiegers: "I just expect my team to play well and myself to play well and get some wins. The coaches are telling me as long as I play well. I have to show them I can control what I can control. It will all come together and fall into place. I'm just going to go out there and do what I can do. "

GBW: Do you have any offers? If so, who?

Tyler Wiegers:"I have offers from Western Michigan and Toledo right now."

GBW: Who are come other notable schools showing interest?

Tyler Wiegers: "Oh yeah Michigan State is. I talk to Northwestern a little bit. Vanderbilt said they were interested in me. Iowa, Duke and then a lot of MAC schools are too."

GBW: How far would a Michigan offer go, if you were to receive one?

Tyler Wiegers: "Well I have always grown up a Michigan fan. So it would be amazing to get an offer from them. Yeah I would be pretty excited. Yeah I would to look over everything and talk with my parents. I would be pretty excited about that."

GBW: Michigan already has s commitment from 2013 quarterback Shane Morris. Does that hinder your decision or do you expect that from any program recruiting you?

Tyler Wiegers: "Yeah anywhere you go there is always going to be top recruits there and coming in behind you. So you pretty much have expect competition wherever you go. Which is fine, because competition makes you the best you can be. I guess you just have to expect stuff like that."

GBW: Do you have a decision timeline?

Tyler Wiegers: "Not really, I really haven't thought about it too much. I mean, I am obviously going to think about it more as I get closer to bigger offers. Really if I like the school and I really want to go there then I'll commit early. But if I am not sure, then I'll wait. But really it depends how I am feeling."

GBW: Were any of the current 2013 commits trying to get you to join them in Ann Arbor?

Tyler Wiegers: "Nobody was really recruiting me hard. We started with a get together and family type thing. There was a little small talk with everybody. It was pretty nice."

GBW: If you could point out one thing that really stood out from today's visit, what would it be?

Tyler Wiegers: "I would have to say the academic portion of it that they went over, just talking about how highly Michigan is rated in the nation and even the world. And how much attention they give their athletes in that area. And what their athletes are able to accomplish really stood out to me. I like that part a lot, academics are important to me.

GBW Did you get a chance to try on a Michigan jersey during your visit? If so, how was that experience?

Tyler Wiegers: "Towards the end they had us walk into the stadium locker room. And they let us try on jerseys of current players. Seeing myself in a Michigan jersey was pretty cool. It was fun."
