Chicago LB Chris Patterson

There's recently been a lot of buzz about Chicago Hubbard High School linebacker Chris Patterson. I called Patterson Monday evening to find out how much of it involved Michigan.

Chris Patterson (6-3, 225 lbs., 4.48 in the 40, 2.3 GPA, Sept. ACT) is the 38th ranked player in the country, and 17th in the Midwest according to the Insiders. In a very impressive junior season, Patterson recorded 127 tackles, 13 sacks, 3 interceptions, including a 60 yard return for a touchdown, and 2 fumble recoveries. In a recent interview he expressed an interest in Michigan, I wanted to know how far that interest went.

Do you have an offer from Michigan?

"No, not yet. I'd like to take a visit there but I'm not going to unless they offer."

What are your favorite schools?

"Oklahoma, USC, Miami, Michigan, and Iowa."

You recently said Oklahoma was your top school, how strong is that?

"I'd have to say they are about 90%. I'm still looking at other school but they are all in that 10% range."

Would Michigan move up if they offered?

"Probably not. I like the tradition at Michigan, their history, and that they put a lot of players in the NFL. But when I went up to the Oklahoma camp I saw that it is all about football in Norman. There are no pro teams in Oklahoma so the Sooners are the center of attention. There was a car dealership called 'The Sooners'. I really thought that was cool."

When will you make your decision?

"I'm not real sure yet. I want to take all my visits and see what it's like. I'm looking forward to getting away from Chicago."
