Michigan High on Jones-Smith's List

The Wolverines dropped 2013 Philadelphia (PA) West Catholic offensive tackle, Jaryd Jones-Smith recently, and the massive three-star lineman may return the favor in the very near future.

Michigan recently added yet another name to its growing list of offensive line targets… Philadelphia (PA) West Catholic offensive tackle, Jaryd Jones-Smith.

“(Michigan visited his school) about two weeks ago,” Jones-Smith reported.  “It was Coach Ferrigno.  He told me that they’re still looking for an offensive tackle and that they want me to come on an official visit.  They want me to come up on the 18th of January.”

Michigan’s sudden entry into the mix was a welcomed addition to the 6-7, 320-pounders recruitment.  He currently holds offers from Villanova, UCF, Temple, Arizona, Wisconsin, North Carolina State, Virginia, and Pittsburgh.  He has already taken official visits to the latter two schools on that list and is seriously contemplating adding a stop in Ann Arbor to the itinerary.

“I think Michigan is a great school, they’re in the Big 10 so you have good competition every year, and they go to a bowl game every year.  They’re up there.  They’re in my top five.”

The Wolverines are clearly high on Jones-Smith as well, but more evaluation is needed before their interest level rises any higher.

“I know (Ferrigno) said they want me to come out on a visit and they are thinking about offering me,” he stated.

That doesn’t appear to be a major sticking point for the Maize & Blue at this point.  The Keystone State star plans to thoroughly inspect all of his suitors before make his choice.

“I’ll wait until signing day (to commit),”Jones-Smith stated.  “(The decision will come down to) me getting the best of both worlds… me getting a good education and me getting a coach that will help me reach my full potential as a player.  Distance will be (somewhat) of a factor, but it won’t be that big of a factor.  My family just wants the best for me.”
