After looking impressive in East practices the past two days, Maurice Hurst Jr. is taking today (Wednesday) off due to struggling with illness.
"My throat is sore and swollen," he told GBW. "I don't have strep throat, I've been tested for that. It's tonsilitis. I'm taking today off, but I'll play on Friday."
DId he realize that he's been picked as one of the top guys out here (on the East team) each of the last two days?
"No, I didn't know that. Thanks."
Asked about what he sees as his strength as a player, he said, "Its my speed."
That quickness off the ball is something that can't be taught to 6-2 kid who is pushing 290 pounds.
As far as what position he sees himself at, on Monday he said that Michigan sees him "at the nose or the three-tech." But this time, he said:
"I'm a nose tackle."
It looks like Peewee and Maurice will make a good tag-team at the nose for Michigan in years to come.
We also asked Hurst to talk about his future teammate, Ross Douglas. "He's not the tallest corner out here," Hurst said. "But he knows now to press and play man."
