Nic Weishar talks Michigan, Recruiting

Chicago Marist junior tight end Nic Weishar is a generating interest from top programs around the Midwest. GBW caught up Weishar, as he talked about who has been to visit him lately, his thoughts on Michigan, being recruited by OSU, his decision timetable, and more.

Chicago Marist junior tight end Nic Weishar is one of the most sought after prospects in the Midwest. In the past week, Michigan, Ohio State, and Boston College have all stopped by to check in on his services.

While Weishar didn't have chance to talk to the Wolverine coaching staff on their visit, he says he had good time on un-official visit to UM last summer.

"I visited (Michigan) over the summer and I really like it," Weishar told GoBlueWolverine. "I really enjoyed my experience and, hopefully, I can get back up there sometime soon. The coaching staff was all great and treated me very well. I am just trying to stay in contact with coaches."

At the moment, Weishar says he can't confirm another visit date to campus. But when he finally makes his way back to Michigan, he will be looking for certain characteristics in other 2014 recruits.

"I think first and foremost, I am open to get around some guys they're recruiting, just to see the kind of guys they are recruiting," Weishar said. "Because those new kids—I am going to end up in the locker room with if I go there. I want guys where their mind is in the right place. Also, guys who are like me and want to work hard in everything they do. That's the main thing I am going to look for when I get up there."

Michigan's chief rival OSU was in recently to check in on Weishar, and gave him some good news.

"Ohio State, they offered today," Weishar said. "I'm still learning more about them. I'm going to get up on a visit to them soon."

Currently, Weishar has thirteen offers including: Notre Dame, Illinois, Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Vanderbilt to name a few.

"I am still just leaving my options open right now," he said. "I am just trying to figure some things out. I am just trying to stay in contact with all the schools that have offered."

As far as decision timetable, Weishar says there is no decision in near future.

"Yeah, I am not too sure yet," he said. "I just want to feel out and whenever I am ready to make the decision—I will just do it. I am just going to continue building relationships with the coaches and I really haven't thought about when I will make the decision. I'm just going to keep talking to the coaches and go from there."

Weshar added, "I don't think location is a very big issue for me. I am just going to find that place that's a perfect fit for me, and obviously get a great education and play big time football as well."
