Washburn (Minn.) 2014 running back, Jeffery Jones, used his speed and ability to make opponents miss in the open field to earn RB MVP honors Sunday at the NFTC in Chicago.

Jones, who is currently committed to Minnesota, earned an invite to The Opening in Beaverton, Ore. with his strong performance last weekend.

"My group members they did great today," Jones told GoBlueWolverine. "That's what made me push a little bit harder. I seen there was a lot of good competition out there. it kind of pushed me to do better, to the next level, you know. I want to congratulate all the other running backs in my group. "It was a lot of hard work. My teammates gave me the motivation and kept after me. They led me on to do a great job in the one-on-ones."

While Jones is currently committed to the Gophers, he says he is still keeping his options open. "I feel like I committed a little too early," Jones explained. "Minnesota is still No. 1. But I feel like it's only right to give other schools a chance to recruit me."

It begs the question, if Michigan were to show interest, would Jones listen?

"Of course," Jones said. "if they show me respect, it's only right to show it back. So, that's how I feel about that."

Currently, Minnesota, Iowa State, Michigan State and Kentucky are recruiting him the hardest, Jones said.

While Jones remains sold with his commitment, he says he plans on taking more visits to other programs this summer.

"I haven't gone any visits recently," Jones said. "I went to Iowa State for junior day. This summer I plan on going out to schools that offer me just to show respect back."

As far as what Jones is looking for on his college visits, he says bonding with the coaching staff is a top priority.

"It's the coaches and how genuine they are, just to see if they are going to be the same person they are when I get on campus, as they are when they are recruiting me," Jones explained. "Are they going to show me that same love? Also, I am looking to get stronger and faster, so I can play. I really don't want to redshirt. Hopefully, the weight program is great. Academics are No. 1, so hopefully I can find a school with all of that."

Jones is planning on camping at the Sound Mind, Sound Body in Southfield, Mich. this June.
