GBW Recruiting: News & Notes

A weekly newsletter on top prospects and recruits interested in Michigan.

Welcome to GoBlueWolverine's News and Notes on everything Michigan football recruiting. This will be a weekly update on U-M recruits and commits and the conversation.

East St. Louis High (Ill.) High 2015 DE, Terry Beckner— The two things that stand out when talking to Beckner. One, he says he wants to play in the SEC. Two, he says his favorite team is USC. However, the Big Ten is recruiting him the hardest right now. He has notable offers from Ohio State, Nebraska, Michigan State and Purdue, to name a few. He says he wants to hear more Michigan. While the Trojans are his child hood favorite, he made it known he has no favorite in his recruitment. Also, he pointed out that he has two years reaming in high school to find the right team. Although, he did say he would like to make his decision at the end of his junior season.

Detroit Western International High 2015 RB, Romello Ross—He really enjoyed his last visit to Ann Arbor. He seems to respect and connect well with Michigan running backs coach, Fred Jackson. Currently, he has no offers. But he is hearing from Penn State, Iowa and Western Michigan. He says he plans on camping at Michigan and Western Michigan. He says he is currently at 5-foot-11, 190-pounds and is enjoying playing slot for his 7-on-7 team.

South Lake (Mich.) High 2015 OG, Kyonta Stallworth—he already has notable offers from Florida and UCLA. He says he plans on visiting both the Gators and Bruins this summer. He admits Michigan State is his child hood favorite school. He says MSU is expecting to offer him this weekend. However, he is real high on academics and says U-M outweighs MSU in that category. He would like to get a Michigan offer and said he would like to make a decision after his junior year.

Arlington (Texas) High 2014 DE, Myles Garrett- Recruitment is still very much in the early stages. He has visited each of the major schools in the state of Texas but the sense is that he wants to take some visits this summer and will take some visits this summer. According to his coach he's the best of both worlds -- can be an effective pass rusher but also stout against the run, and is an athlete he hasn't seen very often given his size. The kid appears to be very serious about being a paleontologist.

Diamond Bar (Calif.) High 2015 WR, Cordell Broadus- The vibe is that he is USC's to lose. It's very early and other teams have been able to open his eyes but he grew up a fan of USC, seems to have very good relationships with his parents and would want them to be at his games. The good news, obviously, he has the means to take some unofficial visits and intends to, so anything can happen and who knows what'll impress him and how much that might change things.
