'15 QB Interested in Michigan

Benet Academy (Ill.) '15 QB, Jack Beneventi talks current offers and his interest in Michigan and more.

Le Grange, Ill.--Benet Academy (Ill.) quarterback, Jack Beneventi is one of the top prospects from the state of Illinois in 2015. He already has notable offers from Notre Dame, Iowa, Illinois, Louisville, Western Michigan and UMass.

A tall and lengthy signal caller, Beneventi comes in at 6-foot-6, 185-pounds, and is already generating positive relationships with a fore mention teams.

"Notre Dame, I have been talking to them since June of going into my sophomore year," Beneventi told GoBlueWolverine. "So, I have been in contact with them for a while. I know them the most. Then Illinois and Iowa just came in and offered. I spoke with them before. I am interested in taking a visit there. Right now with my age and the way recruiting goes, I'm sure more are to come."

While Michigan is currently not on Beneventi's offer list, the Wolverines' have shown some interest, as they were in his school recently to talk with his head coach.

"They came and talked my coach," Beneventi said. "They told him they would be recruiting me hard and keeping in touch. I'm excited about that, it's Michigan, you know. It's a huge school. My favorite quarterback is Tom Brady. He went there. I am very interested in Michigan. I also know they are going back to the pro-style now."

With the interest shown by the Maize and Blue, Beneventi said a visit to Ann Arbor is a distinct possibility.

"I would say if they kept recruiting and they were interested, I would definitely would take a visit. I would for sure take a visit," Beneventi said.

As far as what Beneventi is looking for in a program, he said his "comfort' level with the coaching staff will be a huge factor.

"A lot of it I look for is the coaches," Beneventi said. "I like to see if I am comfortable playing with this guy. Do I see myself here. I mean, what's great about a lot of these schools, is academically Michigan and Notre Dame are top notch schools. You know, academically you are going to be fine. But I feel a lot of it is, will I feel comfortable with these players. Will I have friends here and (my) family. I kind of just look at how the coaches treat you and the way they act towards their players."

With more offers sure to follow, Beneventi says he is aware of the common trend of quarterbacks committing early and has a temporary plan in place. "For sure by the end of junior year," Beneventi said. "I want to be committed before the beginning of my senior year. Right now I think my timeline of when I want to commit is around February and March (2014) If I absolutely fall in love with the school is could be earlier. But if it is not February or March, that means there is time where I need to take more time and think about my decision and really weigh in which school I want to go to."

In the meantime, Beneventi says he plans on hitting the camp circuit hard this summer.

"I'm going to Georgia, Louisville, Vanderbilt, and then Duke and Notre Dame.," Beneventi said.
