At 5-foot-10, 205-pounds, Jones is a compact runner with a quick burst through the hole and displayed nice running skills in last weekend's IMG Regional Championship 7-on-7 tournament.
"I think I am making the most of what I have and the reps I getting out here," said Jones, who plays for Indianapolis based travel team, Elite 7evens. "I'm trying to make every play count. Every play that I am in there I am going to try to catch everything that I can. Even If I am not catching balls and I'm not playing, I just want to be a team player. It's all about winning right now."
During his sophomore campaign for Columbus East, Jones had an opportunity to be the feature back and came away with an impressive season.
"I did pretty good,' Jones said. "I had like 1,600 yards and around 22-24 touchdowns. We made it to the semifinals in state playoffs and lost. I had a really good season, though. It was a really fun season."
While Jones hasn't heard much form the Michigan coaching staff, he said he would be a willing listener.
"If Michigan came knocking I would definitely listen," Jones said. "I know they have a history of winning, though. They got a good coaching staff I know is in there. I just know they are ready to win."
According to Jones, winning is going to be one of his major factors in his final decision.
"First, the coaching staff and the facilities are important," Jones said. "As far as being close to home, I am not concerned with that. Just mainly, I want to go somewhere where we can win and where I can play immediately, hopefully."
In the meantime, Jones says he plans on attending multiple camps this summer.
"I am hitting for sure six or seven one-day camps," Jones said. "I am for sure hitting Indiana, Ball State, Miami (Ohio) and Memphis. Definitely those for sure."
