Fitzpatrick Talks First Offer and U-M Visit

Farmington (Mich.) '16 WR Desmond Fitzpatrick talks about his first offer, his upcoming U-M visit, his childhood favorite school and more.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.--Desmond Fitzpatrick is a rising 2016 wide receiver prospect, who picked up his first offer from Indiana with a strong camp performance at their last week.

"I was really excited because before the camp started. Coach said ‘if you do your thing and be the best wide receiver there, then we're going to offer you,'" Fitzpatrick recalled. "So personally, I was like ‘I am going to be the best receiver there and I am going to earn this offer from Indiana.' I was just catching the balls, running routes, body control, just the whole nine yards of being a receiver."

At 5-foot-11.5, 169-pounds, Fitzpatrick will be a name to watch over the next three seasons. Last year he played for in-state powerhouse Farmington Hills Harrison (Mich.) High, but has since transferred to their chief rival Farmington High.

While the Hoosiers remains his only offer, Fitzpatrick is already hearing considerable interest from other Big Ten programs, including Michigan, Maryland and Ohio State, and has a visit set up with the Wolverines this weekend.

"I was invited down to Michigan on June 23rd for an unofficial visit," Fitzpatrick said. "I am going to check out their coaching staff and how their school environment is."

A self admitted Michigan fan growing up, Fitzpatrick said a U-M offer would go a long way in his recruitment.

"It would be a really big honor," Fitzpatrick said. "Because ever since I was little, I really wanted to play for the Wolverines. And that was the dream school, but now since I am older, like anything can happen."

In the meantime, Fitzpatrick went on a bus tour of campus visits to Tennessee, Ohio State, Old Dominion and Maryland, during this past week. He also said he will continue to train to have a big sophomore campaign.

" I need to work on my speed. I need to get faster on the field. I really need to work on the physical part of the game. I just need to get bigger, stronger and faster."
